Restoring Lands acknowledges that the lands we steward lie on the traditional homelands of the Menomonee, Potawatomi, Ho-Chunk, Oneida, Sac, Fox, Ojibwe, Ottawa and Chippewa peoples along the southwest shores of Lake Michigan, part of North America’s largest system of freshwater lakes, and that this land holds cultural and spiritual significance. We acknowledge that these peoples, and others, are still here among us.
We respect those who have been in relationship with this land for generations before us and are honored to care for this land and its abundance of non-human beings and wildlife.
We are working to build relationships with Indigenous communities so that in the future we may find ways to support cultural revitalization and create mutually beneficial ways of working together.
