Blackbird Preserve

Farmington, WI

Located along the North Branch Milwaukee River in the town of Farmington, Blackbird Preserve conserves 60 acres of land. This preserve features wetlands, grasslands, shrublands, floodplain forest, and active agricultural fields. Abundant wetlands in the northwest corner of the preserve attract all kinds of blackbirds during their migration season. This preserve is adjacent to a DNR-owned property across the river. The lands together provide vital habitat to local wildlife and access to water. There are currently no maintained trails at this preserve. To respect and protect the sensitive plant and animal communities that thrive here, please keep dogs on leash at all times.

Blackbird Preserve has OPEN ACCESS hunting regulations. Please visit our Hunting Page for more information and view the Blackbird Preserve Hunting Map here.

This preserve was formerly known as County XX.  To visit, park in the small gravel area near the kiosk located off of County Rd. XX.
