Located in the Town of Cedarburg, the Cedarburg Environmental Study Area (CESA) is 40 acres. Follow the 1.18-mile trail and you’ll wind your way past several ponds and wetlands that catch the eye of migrating waterfowl throughout the year. As you walk, you’re likely to see a variety of birds including blue-winged teal, wood ducks, mallards, green heron, and warbling vireo, in addition to an abundance of dragonflies. The Emerald Ash Borer has decimated extensive areas of native ash trees, leaving a mark on this preserve as some forested areas transition to more open habitats. As the name suggests, this preserve is dedicated for study and observation of the natural world and is available for use by school groups, community groups, and individuals. To respect and protect the sensitive plant and animal communities that thrive here, please keep dogs on leash at all times.
