Kratzsch Conservancy

Trenton, WI

Located in the Town of Trenton, the Kratzsch Conservancy is 73 acres.Once a farm, this preserve contains planted prairie, wetlands, and woodlands with approximately 2,500 feet of Milwaukee River frontage. Restoring Lands has reforested former farm fields, enhanced wetlands, planted prairie, added a canoe/kayak rest area, constructed a boardwalk across a cattail marsh and created a 2.3-mile trail system. Due to its central location, the Kratzsch Conservancy has also become the headquarters of our stewardship program where we maintain a workshop and a small tree nursery. The topography of the area is typical of glacially formed landscapes and includes features such as eskers, kettle depressions and kames. The forested areas are relatively free of invasive plants and contain trees such as paper birch, white oak, red oak, burr oak, sugar maple, white ash and black cherry. To respect and protect the sensitive plant and animal communities that thrive here, please keep dogs on leash at all times.

Kratzsch Conservancy has MANAGED ACCESS hunting regulations. Please see the Hunting Page for more details. View the Kratzsch Conservancy Hunting Map here.

To access the preserve, follow Lovers Lane until it ends in a gravel road. Continue up the gravel road and park in the small gravel lot on your left. Access the Milwaukee River by following the gravel drive to our trail network.
