Located along the Milwaukee River in the city of Mequon, Peninsula Point Preserve is 19 acres. This preserve features grassland and wetland habitats, floodplain forest, and a quarter mile of Milwaukee River frontage. There is a unique peninsula feature that creates a valuable lagoon habitat for migratory birds and waterfowl. The diversity of wetlands and associated uplands provide critical stopover habitat near the Lake Michigan Flyway and viable breeding grounds for birds and other wildlife. The presence of open water, wetland and upland areas within the property provide important habitat for declining reptilian and amphibian species including numerous frog and salamander species. This area of the Milwaukee River also contains notable aquatic fish species, a diversity of mussels, and river otters. There are currently no maintained trails at the preserve. To respect and protect the sensitive plant and animal communities that thrive here, please keep dogs on leash at all times.
This property was formerly known as Ville Du Parc. There is no designated parking at this preserve. Vehicles parked on the street need to be called in to the City of Mequon: (262) 242-3500.
