South Oak Preserve

West Bend, WI

Located in the Town of Trenton, South Oak Preserve is 112 acres. The preserve is located half a mile south of Decorah Woods and around the corner from Fellenz Woods. A perennial tributary flows from the preserve through Decorah Woods and to the Milwaukee River. Restoration of wetland and upland habitat at the preserve contributes to improved water quality in the Milwaukee River Watershed. A mowed 0.4-mile trail meanders from the parking lot through restored prairie to an old farm field that is being reforested. Head north past the reforestation area to access the upland woods in the northwest corner of the preserve.

To respect and protect the sensitive plant and animal communities that thrive here, please keep dogs on leash at all times.

South Oak is an OPEN ACCESS hunting site. Please see the Hunting Page for more details.  View the South Oak Preserve Hunting Map here.

To visit, park in the gravel/grassed lot off of S. Oak Rd.
