Located in the City of Mequon, Spirit Lake is 155 acres of natural space that connects to Mequon’s Rotary Park through Pukaite Woods. A vehicle access lane from the parking area will connect you to the preserve’s 1.2-mile trail system, where you’ll have options to walk through a variety of habitat types including hardwood forest, prairie, pond, and wetland. This preserve contains a tributary stream and wetland system that contributes to improved water quality before reaching the Milwaukee River about a mile east of the preserve. Restoring Lands has been working with community partners to improve and restore habitat and public access at the preserve. An accessible boardwalk connects Spirit Lake to the Pukaite Woods of Rotary Park. The boardwalk is located near the southeastern edge of the preserve, connecting to the northwestern corner of Rotary Park. To respect and protect the sensitive plant and animal communities that thrive here, please keep dogs on leash at all times.

To visit, park in the gravel lot at 4513 W. Bonniwell Rd. or walk northwest onto the preserve from Mequon’s Rotary Park.
