Located in the Town of Farmington, Stony Creek Preserve is 34 acres and includes a portion of Stony Creek, an important tributary to the North Branch Milwaukee River. The creek contains a variety of fish including Johnny Darters, White Suckers, Common Shiners, Fantail Darters, Brook Trout, Northern Pike and Largemouth Bass. Old pasture and forested areas remaining on site are significantly degraded due to historic grazing activities from an elk herd that once occupied the site. A fence still surrounds the majority of the preserve. There are no official trails within the preserve – please be cautious of the sensitive plant and animal communities that thrive here. To respect and protect the sensitive plant and animal communities that thrive here, please keep dogs on leash at all times.

Stony Creek is an OPEN ACCESS hunting site. Please see the Hunting Page for more details.

Limited parking is available north of County X near the barn/pumphouse. Access is possible north of the parking area through a gate in the fence.
